Við hleifi mik sældu
né við hornigi
nýsta ek niðr
nam ek upp rúnar

fell ek aptr þaðan

Then I became wise
and all knowing/prosperous
grew and bloomed
from a word I found word
seeking word

I had (no need for) bread
from anyone
nor (needed I) sip of worldly mead
I transcended
I was endowed with mighty runes/I learned runes
